Security Testing and Evaluation (ST&E) Print

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed a Security Testing and Evaluation (ST&E) methodology for Federal information systems - NIST SP 800-53.  The Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) is a formal methodology for testing and evaluating the secuirty controls of the system to ensure that the security controls are configured properly and that adequate security controls are in place to secure the system.  The ST&E process is typically conducted during the certification and accreditation of a system.
